Associating files with no file extension on Windows XP
It seems file extensions aren’t so much of a requirement on Linux, and through my various Mozilla experiments I tend to end up with a lot of files with no extension. Windows doesn’t let me associate them with Notepad (actually my notepad.exe file is Notepad2, but that’s another story) and makes me right click and select which application to open them with every time, which is a right pain.
It’s odd that we put up with these little annoyances for so long, as if we’re hoping they’ll go away. Today, I finally got the energy to google it and hey presto, Perishable Press has a quick fix for it ![]()
